Follow our process when we receive your engine
Step 1 - Check in process upon receipt. The job number is generated, a check-in sheet is started, the technician has to check off what accessories are on the engine. IE, alternator, starter motor, engine wire harness, engine ecu controller, filters, motor mounts, motor mount brackets, etc. We conduct the process because we want you to have the ability to reduce installation time when you receive your engine back. 10-20 inbound images are taken and stored electronically. All ports are taped off. The engine is completely steam cleaned prior to tear down.
Step 2 - Your engine enters our shop and is completely torn down to a bare block. All hardware is placed in a large bin with individual compartments and labeled. All parts are washed with our aqueous based automatic parts cleaner. After washing all parts are organized and placed in a lined crate with the job number and put on the shelf until it is time to assemble.
Step 3 - The cylinder block main bore housing is checked. If there is a spun bearing that causes cylinder block bore damage, it is accessed and line bored in house. The cylinder head, crankshaft are sent out for machining. The cylinder head is milled, valve job, pressure tested and magna fluxed. The crankshaft is polished. If it cannot be polished it will be replaced.
Step 4 - The cylinder block, crankshaft, camshaft are re-washed with a 3 step washing process to ensure there are no contaminates any where in the components. The engine is ready for reassembly. At this point an engine build sheet is generated by the job number. The engine build sheet is a 15 step process. All engine specifications are recorded and saved electronically. We also email the customer the engine build sheet for their records. During the assembly process all hardware is properly torqued and marked. At the end of the engine assembly process a team member will carefully check the engine to ensure all hardware has been properly torqued and marked. We also, make sure every bolt, nut, washer is installed in the exact location. We want your engine to be better than factory when you receive it back.
Step 5 - Engine testing. The built engine is filled with oil, installed on our test rig. All electrical systems are hooked up, radiator hoses, fuel supply. The engine is turned over until oil pressure is displayed. Once engine oil pressure had developed, the engine is now fired. During the running process we can troubleshoot any additional problems, check for leaks. Generally, 2 videos are taken. Video 1 will display oil flow to the top of the cylinder head and we make sure all lubricating parts of the rocker shafts are working properly. Once confirmed, video 2 is an overall look of the engine, checking for leaks. Both video links are emailed to the customer.
Step 6 - Engine preparation for shipment. All accessories are removed from the engine, The test oil is drained. All ports are taped. We then use wax and grease remove on the engine to make sure it is complexity free of fuel, oil residual. The engine is painted with the OEM color. All accessories are reinstalled and torqued properly. A wood shipping stand is built with crating per our electronic drawings. The engine is packed in the crate. Separate boxes are also in the crate that contain the engine ecu, new filters, installation gaskets and other items not need during the build process. LTL freight is then booked. At this point the customer will receive outbound images, test video, engine build sheet.
